Unknown man attacked New York State gubernatorial candidate with a knife

In upstate New York, an unknown attacker attacked the Popular gubernatorial candidate and member of the US. House of Representatives Lee Zeldin with a knife. By a miracle, the politician escaped serious injury. The incident passed as the legislator was speaking on a low stage in front of dozens of implicit pickers. The attacker went up to Zeldin, but the politician managed to snare his wrist and buy time before the attacker was dived.
“I’m fine,” the New York State gubernatorial candidate reported.
The moment the legislator was attacked was captured on video, which shows two people on stage falling and other people running over to them. Among those who helped disarm the perpetrator was Lee Zeldin‘s associate, Allison Esposito. He is also a former deputy inspector of the New York City Police Department. Nick Langworthy, chairman of the state Republican Party, told the Associated Press.
He said he did not have any details about the attacker or his ordnance, but he corresponded with Zeldin after the assassination attempt while he was talking to police.” He’s fine,” Langworthy reported, and added that the legislator suffered only a minor scrape, which can’t be considered an injury.
Zeldin‘s campaign office said the intruder was arrested, and the gubernatorial candidate continued his public appearance. He will take part in the election this November. Lee Zeldin is described as a direct rival to the peremptory Popular governor of New York State, Cathy Hocul. She, for her part, condemned the attacker’s conduct and said she was” relieved to hear that the politician was not hurt and that the suspect has been taken into custodianship.” After the incident, Zeldin will be guarded for the duration of the campaign.
